The population includes Ladinos, or folks of Spanish heritage, Mayans, and Mestizos, folk who are a mixture of both Ladino and Mayan. The Mayan population is made from twenty-two different ethnicities all with their own unique dress and language that distinguishes them.

Though present day Guatemala is understood basically for its Mayan roots and colourful culture, the country has many layers to its rich political history. Cross-Cultural Solutions first commenced accepting volunteers in Guatemala in the summertime of 2003 in the capital, Guatemala Town . With tons of positive returned volunteers from all around the globe passing on the news, the need to grow in Guatemala became obvious.

In the Spring of 2007, CCS opened in Quetzaltenango, the state's's 2nd biggest town. Volunteer work in Quetzaltenango are concerned with caring for children and youngsters, teaching kids, caring for the aged, teaching English, and helping teachers. Cross-Cultural Solutions is a recognized leader in the area of world volunteering, with more than four thousand volunteers annually.

Set up in 1995, we are a world not-for-profit organization with no political or spiritual affiliations. CCS has an international staff of more than three hundred people, and operates in twelve states, with executive offices also found in the U. S. , Great Britain, Canada, and Australia.
